Focus, flow and wellbeing in a contemporary workspace

This open office design for AXA Wealth Services in Mérignac is a refined example of how openness and concentration can coexist. Designed by L’Atelier D, the project balances collaboration, privacy and comfort within one generous workspace. Rather than filling the floor with solid walls or conventional office partitions, the interior architects deliberately chose a lighter, more architectural solution: two Facet hanging room dividers in a soft pale blue tone. The result is an open office design that feels calm, structured and human—without compromising on spatial flow or daylight.

A considered approach to zoning in open office design

Open office design encourages interaction, but it also brings visual distraction and acoustic unrest. L’Atelier D approached this challenge with a clear vision: zoning without closing off. Facet was selected for its ability to define spaces while remaining visually porous. The sculptural surface subtly filters sightlines, allowing teams to focus while still feeling connected to the larger office environment. In this project, the two hanging room dividers gently separate:

  • Focused work areas with desks and screens
  • A relaxed lounge zone, furnished with soft seating for informal meetings and breaks

The transition between work and leisure feels natural and intuitive—an essential quality in contemporary open office design.

Privacy without losing connection

What makes this open office design particularly successful is the way privacy is introduced without sacrificing openness. Facet’s three-dimensional geometry creates varying degrees of transparency across the surface. This allows light to travel through the space while reducing visual noise at eye level. The pale blue color was chosen to harmonize with the calm, modern palette of the interior, reinforcing a sense of serenity and focus. The dividers act not only as functional elements, but as architectural features that elevate the overall design language of the office.

A design-led workspace for AXA Wealth Services

For AXA Wealth Services in Mérignac, the goal was to create an environment that reflects trust, clarity and professionalism—values central to their work. The open office design supports both concentration and collaboration, while the lounge area encourages informal exchange and moments of pause throughout the day. The Facet room dividers play a quiet yet decisive role in achieving this balance, demonstrating how thoughtful design choices can positively influence wellbeing and productivity.
