A Designer Love Story

Bloomming is a Dutch design brand founded by Bas van Leeuwen and Mireille Meijs — partners in both life and design. They met while studying at the Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE), one of the world’s most influential design schools, known for its experimental and conceptual approach to design. It was here that Bas and Mireille discovered their shared fascination for spatial design, modular systems and the poetic potential of everyday objects. What started as a creative collaboration during their studies gradually evolved into Bloomming — a studio dedicated to designing objects that shape the way we experience space.

Design Relationships Between People and Space

For Bloomming, design is about more than creating objects — it is about shaping how people experience space. Their work often reveals the beauty of construction itself. Instead of hiding structure or technique, Bloomming celebrates it. Materials are used honestly, details remain visible and objects are designed to last a lifetime — or to be reassembled and their materials upcycled within a sustainable ecosystem.

Where Design and Technology Meet

The studio is based near Eindhoven, a city internationally recognised as a hub for design and innovation. Known for its unique mix of technology, research and creative experimentation — from companies like Philips and ASML to events such as Dutch Design Week — Eindhoven provides fertile ground where Bloomming continues to explore new ways of shaping space.

Gallery Pieces & Architectural Objects

Alongside their architectural products, Bloomming develops experimental design pieces and gallery works. Produced in small quantities or limited editions, these projects allow the designers to explore new ideas, materials and construction techniques — ranging from sculptural objects and installations to collectible design pieces.

Clock Delay

One of these works is Clock Delay — a sculptural clock that reveals the beauty of its mechanical construction. Rather than hiding the mechanism inside a plastic body, Clock Delay exposes the technical parts that make time visible. By showing how the clock works, the object reconnects us with the craftsmanship and engineering behind everyday products. The clock is produced in stainless steel and manufactured locally in a limited edition.

Expose

A modular showcase system designed to celebrate the objects we care about. Instead of merely storing belongings, Expose creates a stage for them. Built on a flexible grid, the system allows endless compositions of showcases in different sizes, materials and colours. The elegant clamping system connects each element while keeping the focus on what truly matters: the personal objects inside.

Table Moods

Table Moods explores the idea that a table can change with the moment. Like turning the pages of a book, the tabletop flips to reveal different surfaces — each expressing a new atmosphere or function. One page becomes a table for work, another for games and long conversations with friends. Turn again, and a beautiful pop-up chandelier appears, transforming the table into a setting for an intimate dinner.

Each layer reflects a different mood of life. By revealing both mechanism and transformation, Table Moods celebrates the beauty of construction and the poetry of changing moments.

Table Grip

Grip by Bloomming transforms almost any flat surface — from reclaimed wood to an old door — into a refined, height-adjustable table. Precision-crafted stainless steel legs clamp firmly to the surface, creating a floating tabletop without screws or permanent fixtures. The design preserves the integrity of the material while creating a striking dialogue between existing surfaces and contemporary construction. Grip is produced in a limited series.

ONE

Designed by Bas van Leeuwen and Mireille Meijs in Chapada Diamantina, Brazil, in collaboration with local craftsmen, Wedding Ring Set ONE is inspired by the idea of two individuals forming one union. Each ring carries half of the form; together they complete the circle — a quiet expression of connection, balance and shared commitment.
