In this contemporary Singapore home, the dining area is defined with quiet precision through the use of the Facet room divider — a sculptural intervention that brings structure, softness, and visual interest to an open-plan layout. Rather than closing the space with hard architectural boundaries, the designer introduced a hanging divider that shapes the room with lightness and intention.
Suspended from the ceiling with 20 cm suspensions, the screen appears to float, giving the dining zone its own identity while preserving openness and fluidity. The geometric surface in Pearl Gray introduces a refined texture that complements the marble wall, the warm wood tones, and the muted palette of the furnishings. Its three-dimensional facets catch daylight beautifully, transforming the divider into a living surface that shifts with the sun.

The width of the divider — 102 cm — was chosen deliberately to mirror the proportions of the dining table. This subtle alignment helps create a sense of intimacy without reducing the spatial flow. There is ample room between table and divider, enabling comfortable circulation and preserving the visual serenity of the space.
Although the Facet room divider is elegant in its stillness, its true brilliance lies in its ability to adapt. Each facet can rotate, allowing the interior to transition from open and airy to more private and enclosed. This flexibility makes it an ideal dining room divider for projects in which zoning, atmosphere, and light control must coexist effortlessly.
In this project, the geometric language of Facet is echoed in the cushion design and the linear detailing on the wall, giving the interior a cohesive, curated aesthetic. Accents of gold, mustard, and soft pink add warmth and a touch of modern playfulness.
Choosing a hanging divider instead of a freestanding one enhances the perceived height of the room and keeps the floor clear — practical for maintenance, but also visually essential in compact dining areas. Facet can be produced in a wide range of widths, enabling architects and interior designers to tailor the configuration precisely to the spatial envelope.
