An architectural backdrop for refined interior imagery.

In this still-life photography project in Utrecht, the Facet designer room divider is positioned not as a functional partition, but as a carefully composed architectural backdrop. Working together with Mooi & Bijzonder, the aim was to create an image that feels instantly editorial—where object, light, and structure come together in a balanced, design-led composition. The result is a scene that would sit effortlessly within the pages of a contemporary interior or architecture magazine.

A designer room divider as a visual anchor

In interior photography, the backdrop defines the tone of the entire image. Here, the designer room divider introduces a refined geometric rhythm that brings both calm and complexity to the composition. The faceted surface interacts subtly with light, creating soft gradients and shadows that add depth without distraction. Against the deep blue background, the white structure becomes both graphic and sculptural—framing the objects while elevating their presence. Rather than competing with the styling, the divider anchors the scene. It transforms a simple still life into something architectural, intentional, and distinctly editorial.

Designed with the camera in mind

Facet’s modular system offers a unique advantage in photography. Each individual facet can be rotated, allowing precise control over transparency, reflection, and shadow.

This makes the designer room divider highly adaptable on set:

  • opening the structure to create lightness and air
  • or closing it to introduce stronger contrast and pattern

Even subtle adjustments shift the entire mood of the image—something highly valued in editorial shoots where variation and nuance are essential.

Featured in leading design and interior magazines

Facet’s sculptural quality and visual versatility have led to features in a wide range of international design publications. Its ability to function both as an interior element and as an editorial backdrop makes it a natural fit for magazine features. The designer room divider has appeared in renowned titles such as Vogue, Frame, Elle Wonen, and Eigen Huis & Interieur, alongside publications like Volkskrant Magazine and Grazia Casa. These features highlight its relevance within contemporary interior design and architectural storytelling—where materials, light, and structure are as important as the objects themselves.
